Buddhist LibraryThe Buddhist Library in Singapore was established in 1981 with the aim of providing and promoting Buddhist education. Besides collecting resource materials on Buddhism and related topics, it also conducts courses, talks and meditation retreats on a regular basis. It has published several books on Buddhist studies authored by renowned Buddhist scholars. A recent innovation of the Library is the production of a video cassette on the life of the Buddha in animation.

Being a non-sectarian organization, the Library serves as a platform for members of various Buddhist schools to learn, discuss and teach Buddhism. Over the years, membership has grown from 300 to more than 3,000. Having established close links with Buddhist organizations in Singapore, the Library now seeks to reach out to Buddhists overseas. One way in which the Library can extend its services and resources to a greater number of people is through the electronic medium.

The Buddhist Library is managed by the Buddhist Research Society.

Paramita International Buddhist Center
Kadugannawa, Sri Lanka

The Paramita International Buddhist Centre offers a place of quiet solitude for those who are interested in meditation away from the busy urban environment. It is located about 90 km from Colombo, just a two hour drive from the City. Situated amidst a natural setting, it provides a panoramic view of the sprawling valleys below. The Centre is built on the site of a previous tea plantation. Its terraced hillside is forested with old tea bushes, pepper vines, jackfruit, nutmeg and clove trees. Hibiscus and Jasmine abound and their blossoms are used for the Puja services in the beautiful shrine hall. The Centre is designed as a spiritual home for the resident monastics and visitors alike.

Individual practitioners seeking a place for intensive personal practice will find Paramita an ideal setting. For those wanting guided instruction, an experienced teacher is available for most of the year. As the Centre was implemented with the international community in mind, instruction is primarily in English.
